Holding the Line

I wonder if we don’t all have some degree of cyclical highs and lows. Periods of great energy, flatter ones. Downright low spells.

It’s really difficult some days to maintain the health and energy necessary to keep your outlook focussed on the positive.

After the heady celebratory mood following the improvement apparent on Vera’s September MRI, which lifted us up for few months, the week leading up to Monday’s scan (she gets them every 3 months) was all anxiety, darkness, worry. Will the other ball drop?

The result, we are told, is that there is nothing on the scan to worry about.

Sounds much more ambivalent than call them quick! The scan looks better than the last one.

So this time, while we are very very grateful that the scan looks good, it somehow does less to shut down the anxiety. Nothing to worry about. Well not really. Ok. Let’s not worry.

Let’s not worry.

Let’s not worry.

Cycles are natural, necessary. We are going to have to generate the joy more organically. With hope and gratitude and living. Ride the cycle. Because being here and having this life to live is a privilege and a miracle. It’s important not to lose sight of that. There is nothing to worry about.

It’s time to stay strong and hold the line.

And we are so grateful for your love and support. We need you all.

  1. Hi Tricia, Thinking of you all and sending love. 😘 Yes the up and downs, highs and lows, and the in’s and outs are all there in the varying degrees and yes it is the challenge and the gift to be able to tap in and connect to our deep inner joy which is God-given and always there for us. So different than feeling happy. We can feel unhappy and sad, but still be connected to joy.

By the Way, today is surgery Eve for my breast reduction. One more sleep. 🙏 Please keep me and my Doctor (Diana Wong) all the nursing assistants, Janet my helper friend, etc. etc, in your thoughts and prayers. I feel mentally and emotionally prepared. Physically I would have preferred to be 5 pounds lighter but it is what it is. I am so looking forward to carrying less weight on my upper end.

Big hugs to all of you. Donna Lee
